Ensure BRC compliance with our magnet inspection and testing service for the food industry

BRC Global Standards is a leading safety and quality certification programme, used by over 23,000 certificated suppliers in 123 countries, which guarantees the standardisation of quality, safety and operational criteria and ensures that manufacturers fulfil their legal obligations and provide protection for the end consumer. BRC Global Standards are often a fundamental requirement of leading retailers within the food industry.

Their latest guidance, Issue 7 of the BRC Global Standard For Food Safety,  states in section 4.10 that foreign body detection and removal equipment, including magnets (magnetic separators) should be used to reduce or eliminate the risk of contamination and in section 4.10.4 that:

The type, location and strength of magnets shall be fully documented. Documented procedures shall be in place for the inspection, cleaning, strength testing and integrity checks. Records of all checks shall be maintained.

In order to ensure your processes are BRC compliant, we offer a magnet inspection and testing service. Using a certified and annually calibrated gaussmeter, we will test the gauss strength of each magnet. You will be provided with a full inspection report, detailing the type, location and strength of each magnet and whether it has passed or failed according to your process requirements. We will advise on the condition of the magnets and magnetic assemblies and whether any action needs to be taken. In addition, we will provide a copy of the gaussmeter’s calibration certificate for your records.

We also provide an off-site testing service, where you can send magnets to us for inspection and checking on a fast turn around to keep your production process moving. As part of this service you will be provided with the same full inspection report.

Industrial magnet testing and certification service for equipment maintenance

We also offer an industrial magnet testing and certification service to support the implementation of Good Manufacturing Practice with regards to equipment maintenance for a wide range of sectors outside of the food industry.
